My name is Meghan. This is Morten. Morten is 2 years old and has severe Cerebral Palsy. He cannot sit on his own, cannot walk on his own, and won’t be able to do most of anything on his own in his life. Though he has limits, he never limits himself. He tries to walk, sit, and do anything he can. He’s a normal 2 year old. He cries when he’s frustrated and wants attention, and smiles over silly things (like when I’m walking backwards). More than that, he’s the most amazing, inspirational person in the world. I’m his nanny and for 40 hours a week, it is my honor to spend time with him. Nobody believes me, but I would do it for free. His smile lights up a room. His presence makes me feel fulfilled. Sometimes I look at him and cry. Not because I’m sad, but because I can’t believe how lucky I am to be with such a strong, beautiful person everyday. He pushes me to become a better person. Don’t ask how a 2 year old can motivate a 21 year old, but they can.
Before Morty, I’d skip class, miss work (I was a severe special needs tutor for 3 years), and just cancel plans for no reason. I wasn’t dependable, had severe anxiety and OCD issues, and let them consume me. Now, I come second. I wake up everyday because there’s someone who needs me. And that feeling of importance is indestructible. He’s helped me mature into a beautiful adult, but also remember the kid in me.
Morty and I create new memories everyday, and I do everything I do for him.

You are a great Human Being Meghan :) His smile made my day , take care of him so much as you have being doing it :)  and Morty, be stronger everyday man :)
